Nursery/Toddler Care
Offered all morning
for children under the age of 3. Our caregivers give parents peace
of mind knowing that their children can play all morning while they
attend either of our worship services and an adult church school
class.
The Camels – 4 year olds and Kindergartners
These children get
the basics of the Bible through a curriculum called HeartShaper.
It’s activity-based learning where the Bible stories are put on an
understandable level and where the children have games, crafts,
manipulatives and songs as well as a take home sheet with more ideas
for the family to do at home.
The Caravan – 1st through 5th graders
These children
experience different Bible stories through a Workshop Rotation
Model. The children are divided into 3 tribes named after some of
the 12 tribes of Israel. This year our tribes are: Reuben – 1st
grade, Judah – 2nd grade, and Naphtali – 3rd/4th/5th
grade. An adult shepherd who gets to know each child and shares in
the Bible stories tends these tribes. These tribes ‘travel’ to
different stations where they experience a different part of the
Bible story. These stations rely on teaching through the theory of
multiple intelligences- or the ideas that children learn in
different ways. The tribes experience the lesson through:
Storytelling, Arts and Crafts, Puppetry and Drama, and
Food/Video/Games. There are 8 themed units this year that are taught
over a 4-week period. They are: Isaiah, Jesus fulfills the
Prophecies, Handel’s Messiah, Jesus’ Baptism, Jesus Washes the
Disciples’ Feet, Appearances of the Holy Spirit, The 23rd
Psalm and David.
The Wilderness – 6th, 7th, and 8th
graders
These youth have moved on from
the Caravan to a class that allows them to really know their bibles. Through a
curriculum called “Live It!” these lesson will relate modern needs to our pre
teens – themes on: Living Positively in a Media Age, Building Character, Under
Pressure, Growing Spiritually, and Making Good Decisions will be discussed this
year. They also enjoy painting the walls of their classroom based on different
Bible stories.
The Promised Land – 9th through 12th
graders
These young adults
jump into the hot topics of today and find scriptural explanations
and discussions on what it really means to believe. They also dive
deeper into the scripture from the morning services. From these
discussions they put their faith into action through service to the
church and the community all while having a good time.
